A native to the Northwest, Jenny grew up in Olympia, WA where she started participating in Community Theater at a young age as well as being heavily involved in music and theater in school. Jenny went on Pacific Lutheran University where she received her Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance in 2004.
After college, Jenny entered the “real world” of performing and dove right in! A self-described “cross over artist” she began working in both Opera and Musical Theater.
Performing in such a broad range of productions, Jenny quickly gained notoriety as a versatile and flexible vocalist as well as an accomplished pianist - many times playing and singing for gigs. Favorite artists and therefore styles centered strongly around Judy Garland and Joni Mitchell! But opera started to call her number as well…
Favorite roles in opera include Marie in La Fille du Regiment, Cupid in Orpheus in the Underworld (both with Tacoma Opera) and two times as Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte with both Tacoma and Skagit Opera. Jenny also starred as Josephine in HMS Pinafore with the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society and Rose MayBud in Ruddigore. Working in musical theater as well, Jenny also sang the operatic role of the Ragazza in the new musical, A Room with a View at the world - renowned 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle.
Jenny was featured in the world premiere of A Christmas Story at the 5th Avenue Theater in both 2010 and 2014 on it’s path to Broadway. Other shows with the 5th Avenue include Titanic, Pirates of Penzance and The Music Man.
She is featured on the Original Cast Album of A Christmas Story (Pasek and Paul) and the studio cast recording of the revival of Yankee Doodle Dandee.
As an accompanist and voice coach Jenny regularly played for the many professional theater auditions in the area as well as provided vocal coaching for theaters such as Village Theatre and the ACT. She also musically directed for Village Festival of New Works many times.
Jenny was used extensively throughout the Puget Sound in both opera and musical theater for fundraisers, special events and concerts and Cabarets as both a vocalist and pianist. A regular with Inverse Opera and Opera on Tap, she spent a fair amount of time belting musical theater and opera arias in bars!
In 2016 Jenny was approached by The Studios in Seattle to create her own one woman cabaret, I Love a Piano. Described as having a “voice as versatile as the set-list” this one woman show features Jenny playing and singing (along with accompanist, Jeff Caldwell) hits by such artists as Judy Garland, Joni Mitchell, Pink Martini, Stephen Sondheim, Puccini, Harry Connick and more Jenny weaves stories of sentiment and nostalgia (and humor!) from her own life amongst great tunes and great playing!
Jenny has also had the honor and privilege of singing the National Anthem for The Seattle Mariners, Seahawks and the Seattle Storm.
In 2020 Jenny and her family relocated to beautiful Coeur d’Alene Idaho. In Coeur d'Alene she has had wonderful opportunities to continue to perform with Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre as Maria in The Sound of Music and Lily in The Secret Garden along with her crazy talented son, Clark. She has performed three years with Ellen Travolta in the Travolta Christmas shows at the resort and in 2024 her whole family will be at the helm in The Sound of Christmas produced by Ellen at the Coeur d'Alene Resort.
